20 June 2011. A new report released today contains scientific findings that are truly alarming for the future of the world's ocean.
The results were presented during an international workshop at Oxford University in April and now published by IPSO - International Programme on the State of the Ocean. "In my opinion, mankind has taken numerous marine ecosystems to their limits," says Professor Dr Jelle Bijma, Alfred Wegener Institute, who participated in the workshop and contributed to the report.
IPSO is an international consortium of scientists and other experts, identifying the problems affecting the global ocean, projecting future outcomes and developing workable solutions.
